In terms of size and capacity, it is second only to Murrayfield Stadium in Scotland. The stadium was originally built in 1888 by a group of volunteers. The first match played on the pitch took place on May 28, 1888, when Celtic defeated Rangers 5โ2. In addition to club matches, the arena has hosted games for the Scotland national team; the last such occasion was a Euro 2008 qualifying match in 2006.
